Tracking (A phase) - UScA Al Govednik

Hello All,

IGP is a wonderful sport and something I have enjoyed since 1984. Tracking is the phase of our sport that I personally enjoy the most, and with that being said, I would like to thank the people and clubs of the USCA's Mid-Central region for providing me the opportunity to judge the tracking portion of the 2023 Mid Central Championship,

As a boy, I became interested in working side of dogs, and dog events. Hunting, herding, AKC field and tracking events really got my interest. Having and enjoying the working ability of dogs lead to my real passion Schutzhund, now called IGP.. My breed of choice since 1984 has been the German Shepherd Dog.

Over the years I have been a competitor in over 200 USCA working events, as well as a captain and competitor for several FCI championship teams. I became working judge #23 in 1996. Since that time I have judged numerous National and Regional events for not only the UScA, but for many other organizations as well.

During the time that I've been involved with our dog sport, I served on the executive board for 16 years, been a helper and track layer at many events, became a teaching judge, a past teaching helper and served as the AWDF president for 10 years. I've been a member of 4 IPO-FH world championship teams, passing over 80 FH's. I'm currently starting my 14th German Shepherd Dog, with 12 of these dogs being handler owned and trained.

In closing I would like to wish all of the competitors, the members of the region, the Mid Central Illinois Schutzhund club, and the many volunteers, all the best during this national championship weekend.

Yours in Sport,

Al Govednik

Stadium (B & C phase) - SV Judge Manfred Drescher

Dear friends of dog sports,

The following is some information about me. I joined my local club (OG Illertissen) and the SV in 1983. Since this time I have handled many dogs in club trials and 5 dogs on SV Nationals and FCI. In 1992 I became Teaching Helper from State Club Bayern- Süd. 1993 I was the back half helper and 1999 the front half helper at the SV BSP in Augsburg/ Germany. I have given many seminars to handlers and helpers. I enjoy working with the dogs and their handlers. For 13 years I was the Training Director of my local club, OG Illertissen. In this time we have had many competitors at Nationals and 3 of them at BSP and FCI- WM. From 2003 till now I’m the President of my club and 8 years from IG Donau-Iller (18 clubs in our Region), too. In 1999 I became an SV Judge. I have had the honor and the pleasure to judge several National and International competitions in Germany, Italy, Austria, South Africa, Canada and United States. Also I enjoy working with the dogs and my friends around the world after the trials if it’s enough time. 2018 I got the license for the character test judge and the ZAP judge in 2019. My goal is to judge with fairness and present the quality of the dogs.

I wish all competitors much fun and success with their dogs,

Manfred
